JAMES “CARROLL” BRANHAM FOR N. GRUNDY SUPERVISOR
Carroll is a life long resident of Buchanan County, Virginia. He is a graduate of Grundy High School. He holds a B.A. from Pikeville College and a masters in education from the University of Kentucky.
Until his retirement, Carroll served the Buchanan County School System for forty-three (43) years in a number of positions which included classroom instructor, guidance counselor, student coordinator, vice principal, and principal of Grundy High School. Carroll was the principal of Grundy High School for fifteen (15) years.
Carroll represented the North Grundy District for seven (7) years on the Public Service Authority Board. After the death of North Grundy Supervisor, Joe Keene (“Keene”), earlier this year, the Buchanan County Board of Supervisors appointed Carroll to serve until the election on November 7, 2006. The winner of the November 7, 2006, contest will fulfill the unexpired term of Keene which ends on December 31, 2007.
Carroll is well respected in the community as an educator and civic leader. After the untimely death of Keene, Carroll received a tremendous amount of support in the community to serve as Supervisor. Since his appointment, Carroll has emerged as a leader on the Board of Supervisors because of his common sense approach and vision for our county. Like Congressman Boucher, Carroll is committed to providing clean drinking water for all homes in his district and the entire county.
We need to make every effort to see that Carroll is elected on November 7, 2006, along with Congressman Rick Boucher and U.S. Senate candidate Jim Webb.
